The Bergey Wind Turbine provides 850 Watts of three phase variable voltage, variable frequency AC. The output voltage from the wind generator is connected to the PowerCenter controller which controls battery charging. |

There are ten 60 Watt Solarex Photovoltaic panels for a total of 600 Watts. The batteries are charged through 0.3V blocking diodes. A charge controller is also a good option. The solar panel angle is changed seasonally, and has a hurricane setting. |

These panels heat water, and supplied plenty of hot water for the sixteen members of our group. Click on the image for a high resolution image and notice the PV panel on the right side. They provide power to pump the water to and from the pre heating tank. |

The tank on the right is the tank that stores the water heated by the sun. Water cycles back and fourth between this tank and the three solar heaters. The water leaving the tank is heated 10 degrees each cycle until it is transferred to the final heating tank. There is a propane back up on the primary tank. |

The Wind Turbine and the PV panels work together to charge two banks of batteries. The battery banks can operate independently with one bank charging while the other bank supplies the invertor. The banks can also work together charging and supplying power to the inverter. Bank 1 has a total capacity of 800 AH, and Bank 2 has a total capacity of 2200 AH, for a total of 3000 Amp Hours. |

The system uses a Heart Inverter to produce 120Vrms 60 Hz AC electricity. |
