Out first job was to lower the tower.

The gin pole provides mechanical leverage to lower, and raise the tower. Notice in the full size image that two of the guy wires attach to the gin pole. There is also a rope that secures the gin pole to the perpendicular anchors.

Our first look at the wind generator.

This pictures shows that the wind turbine has a rotating permanent magnet around a stator coil.

Here is a close up of the brushes and slip rings.

Click on the first image on the far left, to take a close look at the nameplate of this Bergey 850. The next picture is the charge controller for the wind generator.

This machine looks good after ten years of reliable service! You might notice some slight damage to the housing. While the tower was down, the housing was replaced with a new one, and the brushes were cleaned.

A NRG three input Wind Explorer was also installed. The system logs the following data every 2 seconds: wind speed (Anemometer), wind direction, and temperature.
